Original Monastery
Like many of Canada's most appreciated and valued heritage sites, the splendid home of the St. Norbert Arts Centre nearly became the subject of memory. The historic remains of the hundred-year-old monastery were narrowly saved from neglect and vandalism thanks to the dedicated efforts of the community group, Heritage St. Norbert. In the early 1980s, these citizens lobbied to have the grounds preserved as a heritage site and raised money to buy the land and building which the Centre now calls home.
