Aloe Vera: Native to Africa. Gel from this plant is used to treat and soothe burns, rough irritated skin, and wounds. Aloe is a great moisturizer that firms and tones the skin.
Beeswax: solidifies creams
and salves.
Borax: sodium borate- This mineral softens the water, is a cleaning agent, and has a unique ability to suspend soap particles in water so they do not adhere to the skin and clog pores. The skin is left cleaner and softer because of it.
Lanolin: the protective oil found on the wool of sheep. It help to keep the sheep warm as well helps their coat to be somewhat weather resistant. Is the oil that is most like our own skin oil.
Vitamin E Oil: Potent anti-oxidant. Acts as a preservative in skin creams.
Kaolin clay: Used in skin masks, body packs, powders and bath salts. Milder and less drying than other clays.
Rose Water: In 100 % pure form. Has a lovely scent, has light astringent properties. Can be used as a toner for fair dry skin.
Olive Oil: Great medium to hold the helpful properties for herbs for topical use. Use organic cold pressed.
Grape Seed Oil: One of the lightest oils available. Considered to be non-oily, quickly absorbed by the skin. Good for oily or blemished skin, great for teenage skin.
Coconut Oil: has protective emollient properties, not as thick and fat as cocoa butter, suitable for most skin types.
Distilled Witch Hazel: Made from the bark of the which hazel plant, produced by steam distillation, has light astringent and firming properties. Has mild
anti-bacterial properties, great for used on acne prone skin.
Grapefruit Seed Extract: Natural antibiotic, antiseptic, and disinfectant. Serves to extent the shelf life of skin care products.

Herb Infused Oil
Oil of choice is organic extra virgin olive oil.
Use either dry herbs or fresh herbs that have wilted for about 1 day- this allows any excess water to leave.
Solar Infused Oil
1. Place herbs in a glass jar(mason jars work well), add enough oil to cover herbs and cover tightly.
2. Place jar in a sunny spot for two weeks.
3. Strain oil through cheese cloth or muslin
Personalized Moisturizing
Cream
This cream is a great over all moisturizer, make it lighter or heavier depending on skin type, add herbal medicinal value by using the herbal oil of your choice. It helps to record specific ingredients used, then you can
adjust the ingredients to your taste.
Mix #1
3/4 cup oil—herbal infused oil or oil of choice.
1/3 cup—coconut oil or butter.
1/4 tsp—lanolin.
1/8 -1/4 cup—liquefied beeswax.
Mix # 2
2/3 cup—water (distilled or rose water).
1/3 cup—Aloe Vera Gel.
4-6 drops of essential oil of choice if desired.
1/4 tsp—vitamin E. (acts as a preservative.)
3 drops grapefruit seed extract (acts as a preservative.).
1. Combine all ingredients in mix #1, melt together in a double boiler.
2. Pour the liquefied mix # 1 into a blender and allow cooling until creamy
and thick like a milkshake.
3. While mix #1 is cooling, combine ingredients of mix #2 in a container
with a spout, mix well.
4. When mix # 1 has cooled turn the blender on for a few seconds, then
scrape any mix off of the sides of the blender, blend again.
5. With the blender blending, slowly drizzle mix # 2 into the centre vortex
of mix #1.
6. Blend until mixture is thick and creamy, you may have to stop blending a
few times and stir manually.
7. Pour mixture into labeled jars and enjoy.
Variations
Try some of these variations or make up your own.
Light Moisturizer
Use light oil such as grape seed oil, and only 1/4 cup liquefied beeswax.
Add to mix #2
Calendula cream
Use calendula infuse olive oil in mix # 1.
Herbal Salve
Salves are usually made from herb infused oil and beeswax, the oil serves as the carrier for the medicinal properties of the herb, the beeswax adds a soothing protective quality to the salve and serves to solidify it.
1. Prepare herb infused oil.
2. For each cup of herb oil add a _ cup of liquefied beeswax, melt together. To check for desired consistency place a spoonful of the mix in the fridge to speed cooling, add more oil if the mix seems to hard, add more beeswax if the mix seems too soft.
3. Pour liquid mix into jars and allow to cool, cap, label and use!
Super Healing Salve
Prepare using herbal salve directions, use 1 part calendula infused olive oil, 1 part plantain infused olive oil, 1 part St. John's Wort infused oliveoil, 1 part red clover infused olive oil.
Basic Lip Balm
1/2 cup oil.
1/8 cup liquid beeswax.
1/2 tsp vitamin E.
1 TBS coconut oil.
1. Melt everything together in a double boiler.
2. Test consistency by putting a spoonful of the mix in the fridge to speed
cooling, add more oil if the mix seems to hard, add more beeswax if the mix
seems too soft.
3. Once desired consistency has been reached, pour into containers, you can put any excess balm into a jar and reliquify later. Honey Rosemary Lip Balm
Prepare as basic lip balm. Add1 tsp of honey, use either rosemary infused olive oil, or add
8-10 drops of rosemary essential oil.
Honey Peppermint Lip Balm
Prepare as basic lip balm. Add 1 tsp of honey, use either peppermint infused olive oil, or adding 8-10 drops of peppermint essential oil.
Herbal Lip Balm
Prepare as basic lip balm. Use herbal infused oil- St. John's wort and Red Clover work well together.
