The California poppy, Eschscholzia californica, provides nectar for many species including the Vanessas. A bright orange and yellow annual, it germinates at 15° C in ten days. Blooms in 16 weeks. Height 40 cm. Also native in British Columbia, this flower seeds itself freely.
