Lynn Acoose
Lynn Acoose grew up on the Sakimay Reserve in the Southeast area of Saskatchewan. Her father is Riel Acoose (Saulteaux/Irish) and her mother is Lorraine Acoose nee Delorme (Cree/Assiniboine). She left the reserve in her early 20s to pursue a degree in English Literature at the Saskatchewan Indian Federated College in Regina. Since then, Lynn has worked in the arts as an administrator and as a writer. She was the editor of Ironbow Arts Today Magazine and Talking Stick Magazine while she worked as Program Officer with Circle Vision Arts Corporation in Saskatchewan. In the past two years, Lynn has been a full-time writer and part-time cultural worker. During this time, she hasè been investigating traditional forms of narrative and theory by learning from people who are practioners of traditional storytelling and music. Lynn believes that this form of training has allowed her to grow in many ways, not just professionally. Currently, Lynn is working on Thirst Dancer a manuscript of new poetry and Good Days with Strangers, a feature-length screenplay. Now that Lynn has devoted herself to writing, she cannot give it up.
