Sheila Urbanoski

Sheila Urbanoski was born in Wishart, Saskatchewan and studied at the University of Saskatchewan at Saskatoon in the Bachelor of Fine Arts program, as well as undergraduate studies at Concordia University, the Simone de Beauvoir Institute and the Universite de Montreal. Ms. Urbanoski has, amongst many other things, performed with Patrice Fortier as the gender-bending Pantry Partners; wrote reviews and criticism fro the Montreal Mirror, Canadian Press, Cameo, C magazine, Between C & D (N.Y.), Spare Rib (U.K.) and other publications; taught drawing; firebreathing; worked as an artists' model; authored over fifteen arts-related web sites and consulted on over thirty others; has been active in independent video and film since 1983. Her video art pieces, web sites and design work have garnered over fifteen national and international awards. She has long been involved in artists- run centres and the independent media arts community and is currently the program Coordinator of EM/Media. She continues to write, lecture and lead workshops (on computers related to video technology, new media and web-authoring) and strives to become a Renaissance woman.
